Major road closures planned for Sugar Land this weekend
The Texas Department of Transportation is proposing widening FM 529 from the Grand Parkway west towards FM 362 where it is currently two lanes, Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2022, in Katy.
Closures along the main lanes of U.S. Highway 59 will begin Friday for construction, transportation officials have said. The Texas Department of Transportation will be replacing the bearing pads used to minimize vibration, allowing for flex in bridges. The elastomeric bearing pads under the Highway 59 bridge and over Highway 90A will be replaced, according to a social media post from the city of Sugar Land. Repairs also will be made to guardrails, retaining walls, drain pipes and more, it said.
