Hartford HealthCare walk

Sep 28, 2023Sep 28, 2023

Hartford HealthCare and GoHealth will open a primary care and walk-in urgent care center on Wednesday in West Haven.

The center, at 1 Cellini Place near the Boston Post Road in Allingtown, shares the location with Hartford HealthCare Rehabilitation Network, which opened in January, according to a Hartford HealthCare spokeswoman.

This will be the 26th HHC-GoHealth urgent-care center, the spokeswoman said. Hartford HealthCare has additional locations that are not affiliated with GoHealth, she said.

"Hartford HealthCare is committed to transforming health care, bringing the highest quality, most affordable and equitable care to all residents of Connecticut," said Karen Goyette, executive vice president of Hartford HealthCare in an email.

"Increasingly, this means providing the highest quality care in lower-cost settings, with options like urgent care and ambulatory surgery centers, as well as a network of home-based and community services. This helps lower health care costs for all, while improving access to care," she said.

The site is part of an alliance with Physicians Alliance of Connecticut.

By opening walk-in centers that are accessible and affordable, Hartford HealthCare has reduced non-emergency visits to emergency departments by 10% since 2016, Goyette said.

"Nearly 40% of our surgeries are now performed outside of hospitals and in more affordable settings. This makes care more affordable overall and ensures better coordination of care," she said.
